Cracks have appeared on eight stupas in the compound of the Kuthodaw Pagoda in Mandalay after the 6-magnitude earthquake at 9:39 pm on 31 August.
The earthquake’s epicentre was 14 miles northwest of Shwebo and caused cracks on stupas No. 212, 213, 355, 444, 494, 496, 497 and 499. The Mahalawka Marazein Kuthodaw Pagoda is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage.
