Haigyikyun, 19 September
Security personnel from the Myanmar Navy rescued five Sri Lankan men from a drifting fishing boat in the Andaman Sea near Haigyikyun Township, Ayeyawady Region on 17 September, according to a source from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Myanmar Navy’s security personnel found five men from Sri Lanka about 10 nautical miles southeast of Thameehla (alias) Leik Island at about 5:20 p.m. on 17 September. They were adrift on a fishing boat.
The rescued Sri Lankan fishermen were handed over to immigration officials by the Myanmar Navy.
