Yangon, 25 September
One man was killed in a fire in Thaketa Township, Yangon Region on 23 September, according to a source from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The fire broke out at a house belonging to a woman identified as Daw Than Yee, 53 years old from South Ward, Thaketa Township at about 10:30 p.m. on 23 September. The fire is believed to have started from the kitchen of the house made of wood. The blaze engulfed three nearby houses, killing the house owner’s paralyzed husband named U Myo Tun, 58 years old.
A probe has been launched to investigate into fire negligence of the house owner by the local police.
