A delegation led by Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than left for Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, on 22 September to attend the 4th Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments, which took place from 23 to 24 September.
The invitation to the meeting was sent by Mr Nurtan Nigmatulin, Speaker of Kazakhstan’s Lower House – Mazhilis, Mr Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of Russia’s Lower House – the State Duma, and Mr Moon Hee-sang, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
The Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker and delegation departed from Yangon International Airport and arrived at the Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport at 7:35 pm local standard time on 22 September. They were welcomed by Kazakhstan’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mr Vladimir Bozhko and other officials.

Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than met with the Deputy Speaker of the State Duma, Ms Olga Yepifanova, at 1:15 pm standard time on 23 September, where they discussed Myanmar-Russia bilateral relations and closer cooperation between parliaments.
Next, the Myanmar delegation visited the National Museum and the Palace of Peace and Accord. Mr Nurtan Nigmatulin hosted a welcoming reception for the visiting delegations at the Palace Saltanat Saraly later in the evening.
On 24 September the next day, the Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker and delegation attended the 4th Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments at the Congress Hall of the Palace of Independence.

After the opening ceremony, the attending delegation leaders delivered their addresses during the Plenary Session.
During his address, Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than said Asia and Europe were both vast continents that depended on each other and as such, it would be imperative to work together in trade, training and other sectors to achieve greater development and prosperity.
The Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker and delegation departed from Nur-Sultan on 25 September and landed in Yangon around 2:45 pm the next day. They were welcomed by Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun and officials. —MNA
