A passenger bus carrying illegal teaks was seized in the town of Paung in Mon state yesterday, according to Police Captain Tun Zaw Oo from local police station.

Upon information received, local police officers together with witnesses made a search of a passenger bus running between Bago and Meikhitila town. The search uncovered a total of 35 sawn illegal teaks weighing 2.512 tons hidden in the bus.

The police pressed charges against the bus driver Ye Lin Htut and two accomplices named Chit San Maung and Min Htoo for smuggling illegal teaks, according to Paung Police Station.—Zin Myo Thu
