Phakant, 6 October


Two jade scavengers were injured and one other went missing in a landslide collapse at a jade mine in Phakant Township, Kachin State on 3 October.


The 70 ft. high slag heap collapsed at a jade mine which belongs to the Yadanar Adipati Mining Company near Hsaypot Village in Phakant Township at around 4:15 p.m. on 3 October when three men were scavenging in the jade mine. Two men were hurt in the incident but one man was buried by the landslide.


Search operations are being conducted by the local social organizations and the injured people have been sent to a public hospital in Phakant. A probe has been ordered to investigate into the case, according to the local police station.
