AMYOTHA Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than attended a concrete road opening ceremony to mark the 64th Kayin State Day yesterday morning, and met with villagers at Htichaya Village.
The road opening ceremony was started at Thukha road in Myawaday Town at 9 am, with a song sung by Myawady Township Development Affairs personnel, ethnic dances, Myanmar dances and Kayin Don Dance performed by local students.
Next, Township Development Affairs Executive Officer U Saw Robert Htoo, Kayin State JMCS (State level Ceasefire Joint Monitoring Committee) Vice Chairman Saw Pho Doe and Township Development Committee member U Sein Thaung provided sector wise explanation on works conducted.

Afterwards, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than; Kayin State Hluttaw Deputy Speaker Daw Nan Thuzar Win; Kayin State minister for Planning, Finance and Development Affairs U Than Naing, Pyithu Hluttaw representative U Sein Bo, State Hluttaw representative U Aik Kyan Kham and U Thant Zin Aung and District Administrator U Tezar Aung cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the new Thukha Road.
After Kayin State Minister for Planning, Finance and Development Affairs U Than Naing presented cash prizes to groups performing entertainment dances and Myawady Township Development Affairs Committee Chairman U Than Shwe presented road opening commemorative flags to the road opening ceremony attendees, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than and officials inspected that newly opened concrete road.
Following the road opening ceremony Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker met with locals from Me Palae Village Tract Htichaya Village. At the meeting Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker spoke of being elected and assigned by the people and performing the assigned duties with the principal of serving the people, feeling the added responsibility while being proud and honored for being assigned these duties, responsible not only for the township but also the entire country and to fulfill the requirement of the people.
Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker coordinated on the responses of the sector wise officials toward the discussions and issues raised by the constituents.
Later, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker provided cash donation to Me Palae Village Tract Htichaya Village library and Zayat Phyu Kon Village library. Relevant departmental officials then presented cash supports to 63 handicapped persons from Me Palae Village Tract and presented household form 66/6 to the people.
Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker also inspected the status of constructing Htichaya Village library.
