State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi arrived in Tokyo yesterday to attend Japanese Emperor Naruhito’s enthronement ceremony which will be held on 22 October.
Before they left Nay Pyi Taw International Airport by a special flight, they were seen off by Union Minister for Office of Union Government U Min Thu, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr Myo Aung and wife, Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Ichiro Maruyama and officials.
Her entourage included Union Minister for Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Set Aung and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
First, the State Counsellor and party arrived in Bangkok at 10:20 am local time. They were welcomed by Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Myo Myint Than and wife, Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brigadier General Khin Zaw, and officials at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
They took another flight in the afternoon and arrived in Japan at 9: 50 pm local time. They were welcomed by Special Advisor to Prime Minister of Japan Mr Hiroto Izumi, Chief Protocol of Japan Mr Kiminori Iwama, Myanmar Ambassador to Japan U Myint Thu, Myanmar Military Attaché Colonel Tin Soe, officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan and the members of Myanmar diplomatic families at the Haneda International Airport.
The State Counsellor and the entourage proceeded to the Imperial Hotel for their night halt in Tokyo.
