The 41st anniversary for remembrance of deceased author Bhamo Tin Aung was held at the Young Men’s Christian Association Hall in Botahtaung Township, Yangon, yesterday morning.

Literatures lovers attended the event with the celebrations of presenting words for remembrance, reciting memorial poems and contributing funds for organizing his 100th birthday next year.

U Ba Hein Aung, the son of Bhamo Tin Aung, said, “This is a pre-centennial event for my father, which will be held in June 2020. I donated some of the honoraria received for my father’s books to Hanthawaddy U Win Tin Foundation, Thakin Kodaw Hmaing Foundation and former prisoners of Cocogyun at the 20th, 25th, 30th, 39th, 40th and 41st anniversaries for remembrance.”

Author Ko Lin Myat also said, “Veteran author Bhamo Tin Aung wrote many books. He was a long-term prisoner of Cocogyun. He worked for internal peace together with Sayargyi Thakin Kodaw Hmaing. One of his remarkable words was ‘the value of each person can be measured by his performance on historical duties assigned by his time.

Born on 9 June, 1920, in Bago, Bhamo Tin Aung passed the matriculation exam from Yangon High School in 1938. He worked as an apprentice news reporter at the Myanma Alin Newspaper in the same year.

He took part in the movements of the Students Union from 1936 to 1938. He entered literary profession in 1938, and wrote 45 novels and other literature works. He passed away at 59 on 23 October 1978.

A memorial building is under construction in Bago to mark the 100th birthday of Bhamo Tin Aung.
