Police are hunting for thieves who stole three Buddha images in the compound of a monastery in Nalkuu Village, Taungtha Village in Mandalay Region on 26 October, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.


Three Buddha images dating back from 100 years ago were stolen at around 6 p.m. on 26 October. The Buddha images with a radius of ranging from 2 to 3 ft. and 2 inch are preserved in the precinct of the Nalkuu Monastery. Local police officials rushed to the scene to assess the situation.


A probe has been launched to investigate into the case and the local police opened a file against the thieves, the ministry said.
