THE  Bago  Region  Tourism  Committee  held  a  workshop  on  the  tourism  development  sector  of  Bago  Region  on  19  November at 9:30 am at Bago Town  Hall,  discussing    new  destination created, commu-nity  based  tourism  program,    hotel  and  resort  businesses  and  formation  of  the  restau-rant  association,  souvenir  entrepreneurs  association,  transportation,  and  others  relating  to  tourism  develop-ment sector.

Bago Region is 15,214.23 square  miles  long  and  it  provides  the  smooth  public  transportations. It is also rich in cultural heritage destinations including ancient Hanthawaddy, Kaytumadi and Sri Ksetra cities, pagodas, temples, dams, gardens and other tourist attraction plac-es in Bago Region. The regional government has planned to cre-ate  the  ancient  Kaytumadi  city  in  Taungoo  Town  and  Hantha-waddy city in Bago Town in order to upgrade the tourism sector of Bago Region. The airfields near Nanchun Village, Yedashe Town-ship, Taungoo District is currently conducted the second World War Memorial  Park  project  with  the  aim  to  create  a  new  destination  in Taungoo District.

Furthermore,  the  resort  center  projects  will  be  operated  at the dams in Toungoo District. The regional government is also encouraging the small and medi-um-sized enterprises and souve-nirs producing businesses. —Tin Soe (Bago)(Translated by La Wonn)
