No casualties were reported after a fire broke out at the office of the Forest Department in Falam, Chin State early this morning.

The fire is believed to have started from an overheated wire at about 00:15 a.m. and destroyed a two-storey building belonging to the Forest Department. A group of firefighters led by Assistant Director of the Fire Services Department U Saryone Mahn in cooperation with policemen and local people managed to bring the blaze under control with the use of two fire engines, two water tankers and fire distinguishers. The flame was completely put out 45 minutes later.

No one was injured due to the fire. Chin State Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Mining U Hen Mang Dal and concerned officials inspected the damaged building.—IPRD
