Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker U T Khun Myat asked the MPs for their consent or objection to appoint Lt-Gen Soe Htut, nominated by the President, for the Union Minister for Home Affairs.
On the 6th day of 15th regular session, the Speaker said the Hluttaw is scheduled to discuss the nomination on 10 February, and he also invited the names of MPs who want to object the topic.
During discussions about a work report of the National Education Policy Commission for the six-month period (from 10 April to 9 October 2019), MP U Win Win from Minbu constituency expressed his support on the plan to reopen agriculture high schools as it would be helpful for agricultural sector.
MP Daw Htu May from Rakhine State constituency 11 pointed out the lack of connection between the requirements of states in developing human resources and economic objectives and priorities of the country is one of the underlying reasons for less development of these states.
She also advised the commission to set development goals for specific state in implementing higher education programmes with systematic research.
MP U Khin Maung Thi from Loilen constituency suggested the delegation members to foreign trips should make conclusion on appropriate ways for education reforms of the country from their oversea experiences, rather than highlighting on their visited places and sharing knowledge.
The report of NEPC was also discussed by the other 9 Hluttaw representatives.
During discussions on the Financial Policy Implementation Report and the Financial Stability Report for the period from April to September 2018, Dr Thet Thet Khaing from Dagon constituency said reforms in banking sector should be adjusted with appropriate rules , and the terms for loans and interests should be decided by the banks and their customers.
MP Daw Cho Cho Win from Mawlaik constituency remarked the Central Bank of Myanmar needs to scrutinize and prevent waste of budgets of relevant departments, while the ministries require reviewing the use of their budgets.
