Acting on a tip-off, a combined team comprising personnel from Kyautaga Forest Department and Phado Police Outpost searched the compound of U Phoe Khua’s house in ward-5 in the town of Phado, Kyauktaga Township in Bago Region yesterday and seized a sawmill and related items in the compound.

In a similar incident, a combined team also raided the compound of Daw New Ni’s house in ward-5 in the town of Phado and seized 20 illegal sawn teak and a sawmill and related items in the compound.

Action is being taken against those who got involved in the illegal business under the forest law, according to the Township Forest Department.—Khin Ko (Kyauktaga)
