A rural bridge is being built in Tarnawhta Village in Myawady Township, Kayin State by the Border Areas and National Races Development Department under the Ministry of Border Affairs by spending the allotted fund for the fiscal year 2019-2020 and the project has so far been about 75 percent finished.

The facility will be 145 ft. long and 14 ft. in width and will be of a reinforced concrete type. The structure is being built by a private construction company with more than Ks. 260 million. Construction of the bridge commenced on 1 December 2019 and was completed by 75 percent. It is slated for completion ahead of July this year, said an official from the company.

Residents in the village where an ancient historic pagoda is located used the wooden bridge in the past. Once completed, not only locals but also pilgrims will be able to use the bridge conveniently in all seasons.—Aung San Tun (IPRD)
