Relief items contributed by the Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement were handed over to storm victims from Thazi Township, Mandalay Region on 27 April.

29 houses from eight villages were badly damaged by the gusty winds that swept through the township at about 7 p.m. on 26 April. Lawmakers for Mandalay Regional parliament U Moe Myint Thein and U San Tun, Chairman of the township disaster protection and prevention management committee Township Administrator U Zaw Lin Maung, officials from the DRD and representatives from the National League for Democracy provided the storm victims from five village with relief supplies on a door-to-door basis.

Humanitarian assistance was also supplied for the storm victims from three villages through the village administrators.—Tun Tun (Thazi)
