State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi wrote on her Facebook page yesterday that each one of us needed to do what needed to be done in the right way. This is what she wrote:

We pass 1 May. We are now in the fifth month from the date we first formulated and approved the health and economic programmes to respond to COVID-19.

Up to now, we can say that we have been able to contain the COVID-19 disease. 151 infected patients, 6 deaths and 28 recovered patients. When compared with other countries, we can say that our situation is among the least severe. This is because of the strenuous efforts of all relevant departments and the cooperation and participation of the people, who are the key.

Much remains to be done with much effort in the future. Healthcare programmes for the returnees which can number up to 100,000; influenza which comes with the Monsoon, dengue protection programmes; other numerous social issues; issues facing the country; all these we need to overcome.
