Yekyi, May 18

A fire destroyed two houses in the town of Yekyi in Pathein district, Ayeyarwady region at 8:30 pm yesterday.

The fire started from the wood fire in the kitchen of the house that belonged to Daw Mya Kyi. When the fire started to break out, she was in one of her neighbors’ house. The fire spread to a nearby house owned by U Thar GI, burning down the two houses to the ground.

Local firefighters took almost half an hour to put out the fire using two fire engines.

No casualty was reported in the fire that caused an estimated total loss of K 0.7 million. Daw Mya Kyi was charged with careless use of fire at a local police station.—Aung Thu Han (iPRD)
