A group of local authorities led by Shan State Minister for Bamar Ethnic Affairs Dr. Aung Than Maung and Shan State Minister for Municipal Affairs U Sai Som Chai made a field to Ward-9, Kyaukme Township in Northern Shan yesterday morning to inspect construction of a multi-purpose shelter.
A private construction company named Zin Yaw San Co Ltd is building a multi-purpose shelter with the aim of improving natural disaster resilience in Kyaukme Township with Ks. 172 million of the funds allotted by. Construction of the facility began 0n 25 April and the structure is slated for completion by October this year.
They also looked into progress for development of another multi-purpose shelter in Tongsint Village in Hsipaw Township. The structure is being built by a private company by spending Ks. 155.2 million financed by the National Disaster Management Committee.
The multi-purpose shelters are reportedly constructed to temporarily accommodate the victims of conflict and disaster victims.—
