The younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has threatened to scrap a military agreement with South Korea after defectors in the South sent anti-Pyongyang leaflets across the border.
Kim Yo Jong issued a statement on Thursday through North Korea's ruling party newspaper Rodong Sinmun and other state-run media.
Kim slammed North Korean defectors in the South who flew balloons carrying hundreds of thousands of leaflets critical of her brother across the border on Sunday.
She urged South Korean authorities to take action, warning they will face dire consequences if they let the situation go on while using "freedom of expression" as an excuse.
Kim threatened to scrap the 2018 inter-Korean agreement aimed at reducing military tension, fully withdraw from the Kaesong industrial complex and shut down the North-South joint liaison office.
Kim had earlier expressed frustration with South Korea over its continued joint military exercise with the United States.
