North Korea says it will deploy military units in two areas near the border with South Korea, where inter-Korean joint projects are located.
North Korea's state media cited a spokesperson for the General Staff of the Korean People's Army on Wednesday.
The report says the units will be deployed in the Mount Kumgang tourist area in the country's southeast, and the Kaesong industrial Zone in the country's southwest.
The announcement follows the military's warning on Tuesday that it was reviewing an action plan to reenter the demilitarized zone on the border.
The report also unveiled plans for military exercises that would be conducted near the military demarcation line.
