The Department of Archaeology and National Museum in Magway Region has listed a total of 284 religious edifices in Yesagyo Township of Pakokku district for renovation.

Officials recorded 33 Buddhist temples in Kyat Su Kyin village, 117 in Auk Nan village, 74 in Ma Au Ah Lal village and 60 in Ma Au Auk Village respectively.

“All of these temples are the art works of late Konbaung era. According to the procedures, we will submit the estimated cost and seek permission of Region Government to conduct inventory in the first stage of renovation. After receiving the permission, we will start renovation works,” said U Myint Thein, Deputy Director of Archaeology and National Museum (Magway).

The department is currently conducting ground survey and conservation works to promote the local tourism industry and not to lose ancient heritages.
