Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe, in his capacity as the Secretary (2) of the National-Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), received the donations for the committee yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Health and Sports in Nay Pyi Taw. On behalf of the donors, the Kholon Lishaw National Culture Organization Chairperson Sihasudhammamanijotadhara U Kyaw Myint explained the reasons of the donation.
Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe expressed thanks to the donors for their cooperative efforts and donations during the COVID-19 crisis. He added that the supplies and donations will be useful not only for fighting COVID-19 but also for addressing other health challenges for the long-term. During the donation ceremony, Chairperson U Kyaw Myint and wife donated a disinfection vehicle worth K136 million, a motorcycle, disinfectant spray and sets of personal protective equipment; Telenor Myanmar telecom company donated K64,268,572.66 and the contribution of its users K5,731,427.24 under fund-raising programmes from short message; Connell Bros.Co. (Singapore) Pte Ltd.(Myanmar Branch) donated hand sanitizers worth US$8,000; DOW Chemical (Myanmar) Ltd donated hand sanitizer worth $8,000; Maung Shine Htet Aung donated K10 million to mark his 22nd birthday; and graduates from the University of Pharmacy donated K4.31 million. Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe and Permenant Secretary Dr Thet Khaing Win received the donations and gave the certificates of honour in return.
Myanmar Edible Oil Millers Association Chairman U Khin Soe and the members donated cooking oil worth K34,514,200 to the committee yesterday afternoon. The Union Minister returned certificates of honour to them.
