Firefighters and local authorities carried out the rescue operation this morning after some residential areas in Bhamo Township; Kachin State was submerged by the floodwaters from the Ayeyawady River.


Flood victims from eight households from Ward-4 were evacuated to safer locations by firemen and local authorities with the use of a fire engine. So far51 households were evacuated to safer places as a result of rising water level from the Ayeyawady River from 11 to 23 July.


The flood victims are currently sheltered at the monasteries and evacuation process was undertaken by Township Administrator U Toe Toe Win and concerned officials.
