Departmental officials and volunteers from local social organizations were involved in the evacuation of flood victims in some residential areas in Tanai Township, Kachin State yesterday evening.
    

They helped 131 flood victims move to temporary relief camps opened at the monasteries. In addition, the evacuees were provided with food supplies such as rice, cooking oil, legumes and instant noodles by the township management committee and the local military battalions.
    

The water level of Tanai Creek reached 20 ft. above its danger mark and the Namti-Tanai-Pangsaung-Ledo Road was submerged by floodwaters and the vehicles except household-used cars are allowed to traverse the road.
