The ASEAN Law Institute held its 3rd meeting via videoconference yesterday.

The Union Attorney-General Office Permanent Secretary Dr Thida Oo, Director-Generals Dr Swe Swe Aung, Dr Thi Thi Myint and other responsible persons participated in the meeting, together with ASEAN member countries.

The ASEAN member countries established the ASEAN Law Association in 1979 and Myanmar has become a member in 2012.

The association established the ASEAN Law Institute in Manila of the Philippines in 2018 to provide the ASEAN legal matters.

During the 3rd session of ASEAN Law Institute, the officials discussed programmes for ASEAN Law Institute to be able to stand as an organization formed in accordance with the law, procedures in strategic plans (2020-2024), processes that are completed or still under the operation according to 2020 Work Plan, suspended work due to COVID-19, ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement, studies of local investment law of individual country, working plan for 2021, knowledge exchange among ASEAN legal officers and the plan for upcoming meeting.—MNA (Translated by Khine Thazin Han)
