With the resuming of the highway bus lines, travelling by these express buses has been slightly rising this month compared to that of last month, said Joint Secretary U Hla Aung of Yangon Region Transport Authority (YRTA). “The number of domestic visitors travelling to 102 towns in 14 states and regions using highway bus lines from Aung Mingalar highway terminal and Dagon Ayeyar highway terminal increased in July compared to that in last June. More highway bus lines are running this month,” he noted. Last June saw a total of 705 express buses from 207 bus lines transporting over 7,400 passengers to other states and regions from Yangon. From 1 to 20 July, about 845 express buses from 238 bus lines transported over 9,600 passengers, according to YRTA.


People are travelling to other states and regions from Yangon by highway buses mainly from Aung Mingalar highway terminal and Dagon Ayeyar highway terminal. 256 bus lines are operating over 2,500 express buses at Aung Mingalar highway terminal and about 124 bus lines operating over 1,100 express buses at Dagon Ayeyar highway terminal.—YarMaNya
