The Tatmadaw True News Information Team held a press briefing at the Defence Services Museum in Nay Pyi Taw on 25 July afternoon.
The press briefing was conducted by Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun from the Tatmadaw True News Information Team.
Before the press briefing, officials from the Directorate of Medical Services of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) measured temperatures of the attendees. Social distancing was also enforced in the press conference as a COVID-19 preventive measure.
During the press briefing, Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun explained about Tatmadaw’s efforts related to “Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief” (HADR). He said that in accordance with the guidelines of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Tatmadaw, like international Tatmadaw, regularly practice to quickly respond to natural disaster.
Every time natural disaster occurs, Tatmadaw immediately goes to the locations and provides humanitarian assistance without delay, said Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun. Regarding disaster management, Tatmadaw formed many levels of committees, including the Central Committee led by the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, and the work committees, according to Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun.
Tatmadaw issued a statement to enforce a ceasefire in certain areas from 10 May to 31 August 2020. Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun spoke about the situations of Ethnic Armed Organizations in the five regional commands from 22 June to 21 July.
Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun also highlighted the meeting between the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw on 16 July. He explained about deep relations between two armed forces in fighting COVID-19, peace process, border security issues, and cooperation in drug eradication.
Afterwards, Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun answered the questions raised by reporters.
A total of 42 journalists from 22 news agencies (local media and local-based foreign news agencies) attended the press briefing.
