About 904.82 acres of farmlands were reclaimed in 2019-2020 fiscal year, in nine townships of the three following districts—Shwebo, Monywa and Kanbalu–where increased agricultural income generation project is being implemented, said U Khin Maung Zin, the regional head of the Agricultural Mechanization Department in Sagaing Region.


“Regarding the implementation of the increased agricultural income generation project, the Agricultural Mechanization Department reclaimed over 900 acres of farmlands in this FY. 


The department is planning to reclaim more farmlands in the next FY. The department will reclaim a total of 5,000 acres of agriculture land,” he added.


According to the increased agricultural income generation project, the department systematically reclaimed a total of 904.82 acres of farmlands — 182.96 acres in Kya Khat village and 125.91 acres in Ywar Shae village in Dabayin Township, 315.09 acres in Ywartawgone village in Wetlet Township and 280.86 acres in Myinchingone village in Shwebo Township in 2019-2020FY. The department also reclaimed 575 acres of farmlands in Sagaing Region in 2018-2019FY.
