More than 7,000 acres of farmlands were put under cultivation of multi-crops in Sagaing Region in 2019-2020FY under the GAP system, according to the Sagaing Region Agriculture Department. “At present, over 7,000 acres of paddy and other crops are being cultivated under the GAP system. While we plant the crops under the GAP system, we need to make an initial test of water and land in Mandalay and Yangon laboratories. Sometimes, there are delays, but we are trying our utmost to meet the target. To enable the farmers to earn an income as well as to ensure the safety of the foods, the department is carrying out the GAP system under the supervision of the government,” said U Aung Kyi Win, the deputy head of the Sagaing Region Agriculture Department.

In this FY, the department targets to plant about 25,000 acres of monsoon paddy and other corps under the GAP system in monsoon. Now, more than 7,000 acres of monsoon paddy and other crops have reportedly been grown as of July-end.
