Torrential downpours and forceful winds hit Taninthayi Township, Myeik District yesterday’s morning and it caused some houses to collapse.


Under the guidance of Township Disaster Management Committee, Deputy Township Administrator, members of Red Cross Committee and officials from Township Department of Disaster Management went to the incident and provided cash aids and relief items to the flood victims.


The officials provided cash aids for purchasing rice and building materials and rescue kits with 16 items to the flood victims. Due to the torrential downpours and forceful winds, six houses collapsed and 45 from the houses became homeless. 


In addition, the relief items such as building materials and personal hygiene products provided by Myanmar Red Cross Society were also given to the flood victims.
