Hlaingthayar, 7 August

A ceremony to present compensation for almost 270 acres of farmland confiscated by the Tatmadaw was held at the town hall in Hlaingthayar Township, Yangon Region yesterday morning.

First, officials from No.9 security branch clarified matters relating to compensation. Next, Yangon Region Lawmakers for No. 1 and No.2 constituencies expressed words of gratitude over the compensation. Afterwards, concerned officials presented compensation to rightful land owners at the rate of K 7 million per acre and a farmer spoke words of thanks.

Also present on the occasion were Township Administrator U Nay Min Tun, township level departmental staff and residents.
