Illegal sawn Padauk timbers were seized at Mahlwetaung checkpoint in Kaleinaung Township, Dawei District, Taninthayi Region on 30 August. 

Personnel from the Township Forest Department and police members searched a six-wheel truck car at the checkpoint and arrested a suspect along with 51 sawn Padauk timbers weighing 10.8922 tons.

Action is being taken against those who got involved in the illegal business under the forest law, according to an official from the Township Forest Department.
