Myawaddy, 17 September

A total of 293 Myanmar migrant workers including 175 men and 118 women were handed over by the Thai authorities to their Myanmar counterpart at No. 2 Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge in Myawaddy on 17 September.

The returnees were welcomed by the regional Hluttaw Representative U Thant Zin Aung, the district Administrator U Tay Zar Aung, deputy Administrator U Aung Chan Nyein and departmental officials, and provided free medical check-ups and other necessary assistance to them to go back home.

A total of 77842 Myanmar migrant workers have been handed over by Thailand to Myanmar from May 1 to September 17 this year.

Local authorities sent 293 Myanmar migrant workers who entered Myanmar today to designated quarantine centers in accordance with the guidance of Ministry of Health and Sports amid the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.—Htin Lin Aung, IPRD
