RAKHINE Chief Minister U Nyi Pu inspected the construction progress of Kwinlyarshay reser-voir at the namesake village in Gwa Township yesterday.
The Chief Minister re-ceived an explanation of the construction process by offi-cials in charge of the project and said they will fulfill the recommendations of the local residents.
The reservoir measures 235 by 20 feet wide and stands at 50 feet high. Total construction cost is estimated at K550 million and the construction is led by the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management De-partment of Thandwe.
The area receives 200 inches of rainfall every year and thus the reservoir can expect to store an average of 575 gallons per year, provid-ing sufficient drinking water to all surrounding settlements.
