The autumn festival will be held at Ngapali Beach in Thandwe Township of Rakhine State from 18 to 27 November, according to U Tin Tun Aung, director of the Rakhine State Directorate of Hotels and Tour­ism.

 

The 10-day festival will be in the public area of Ngapali Beach and include a campfire, beach sports, sand arts, cycling, tug and greasy pole climbing competitions as well as the night market and funfairs.

The night market and fun­fairs will feature dishes of eth­nic people, MSME booths and entertainment programmes.

 

“The Ngapali Beach au­tumn festival will be held in No­vember. It is held yearly. The festival will include the events such as the sand pagoda fes­tival and funfairs. It will also include Rakhine traditional wrestling, volleyball, cycling, racing and greasy pole climbing competitions,” said U Tin Tun Aung.

 

The autumn festival aims to attract travellers and the first and second autumn festivals were held on 14 November 2021 and 22 November 2022. This year’s festival will be held be­tween 18 and 27 November.

 

Ngapali Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Myanmar and also the best-known beach in Asia. The beach hosted huge crowds of domestic and foreign travellers before the COVID-19 period. — ASH/ KTZH
