11 Myanmar migrant workers were sent back by the Thai authorities to their Myanmar counterparts as their border passes have expired. The hand-over took place at Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge-2 yesterday.

The returnees were accepted by Myanmar departmental officials and local authorities from relevant departments.

Also present on the occasion were government personnel from Tachilek Township GAD, the Labor Department, Immigration and Population, the Anti-human Trafficking Police Force, the Disaster Management Department and the Caring and Negotiating Committee for Myanmar Citizens (CNCMC), a Me Sai-based welfare society. Myanmar departmental officials provided necessary assistance to them to go back homes.

A total of 1107 illegal Myanmar migrant workers including 710 men, 361 women and 36 children have been handed over by Thailand to Myanmar from January 1 to July 1 this year.—Sai Aung Zaw Lynn
