Eleven people died and four others went missing late on Wednesday night in rain related incidents in Pune, 150 km from Mumbai.
"Eleven persons have lost their lives, of which six died due to wall collapse while four others have been drowned in various parts of the city and one in other rain related incident, Information on four people getting washed away has been received and search and rescue operations are underway," said a police official from Pune Police control room on Thursday.
Earlier this week, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted heavy rainfall in Mumbai and adjoining areas.
Two teams of the National Disaster Response Force are being deployed for relief work. Schools and colleges have been asked to remain close, the police official said.
