TO bring back Myanmar citizens stranded in foreign countries due to suspension of international airlines, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working with Myanmar embassies in respective foreign countries and coordinating with ministries concerned, in accordance with the guidance of the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment on COVID-19 Disease.
A total of 131 Myanmar citizens – 68 from the Republic of Korea and 63 from the United States of America, Britain, Italy, Qatar, Indonesia and Viet Nam —facing difficulties in foreign countries were brought back to Myanmar by the relief flight of Myanmar Airways International via Incheon International Airport, and the persons arrived at Yangon International Airport at 8pm yesterday.
Myanmar government has brought back a total of 1,847 Myanmar citizens stranded in foreign countries as of 15 May.
When they arrived at the airport, Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports and Yangon Region Government took respective responsibilities in accordance with the health guidelines released by the Ministry of Health and Sports to put them under the facility quarantine at designated places and hotels. – MNA (Translated by TTN)
