With the aim of ensuring food sufficiency and increasing the income of farmers, 1315 acres of winter crops were cultivated in Chaungzon Township of Mon State.

In order to achieve high yield, officials from the Township Agriculture Departments are making field trips and providing farmers with necessary assistance such as agricultural techniques, good quality seeds, methods of planting and prevention of pest infestation in collaboration with relevant farmers in the Township, according to the Township Agriculture Department.

The Township Agriculture Department has earmarked to grow 3937 acres of sunflower, 1363 acres of groundnut, 25 acres of sesame, 124 acres of summer paddy and 399 acres of varieties of beans this cold season. Now, efforts are being made to meet the target areas.—Ko Kyaw(Chaungzon)
