16 people were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a car in Mudon Township, Mon State, the Ministry of Home Affairs said.


The accident occurred between mileposts 22 and 22/1 on the Thanbyuzayet-Mawlamyine Road near Nyaunggon Village at around 8:30 a.m. on 11 November. A Mark II car driven by a man named Mon Chan, 23 years old was on the way to Mawlamyine from Thanbyuzayet and collided with a minibus with 16 people on board coming from an opposite direction while attempting to overtake another car. 16 people from the minibus were hurt in the accident and were transferred to a public hospital in Mudon.


Among the injured people, the driver of the minibus identified as Aung Kyaw Kyaw, 20 years old were severely injured. The Mark II driver is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.—MOHA
