A total of 160 inmates – 154 males and six females – were released yesterday morning from Insein Central Prison under an pardon order issued by the State Administration Council.
Sub-section (1) under Section 401 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the remaining sentences shall be pardoned with the condition that “If they commit the offence again, they will continue to serve the remaining sentences.”
The amnesty ceremony was held at the Insein Central Prison yesterday morning.
Director of Department of Prisons (Yangon Region) U Myo Oo, Deputy Director in charge of Insein Central Prison U Zaw Lin Aung, Police Lt-Col Tin Tun from Yangon North District Police Force, and officials and staff from the General Administration Department, Fire Services Department and Prison Department attended the ceremony.
Prison Department Director U Myo Oo and Police Lt-Col Tin Tun addressed the released prisoners at the ceremony.
After that, the prison released prisoners, presenting the Certificate of Release from the Prison.
Next, food and travel expenses and wages were paid to inmates. They were transported by YBS vehicles to their respective townships. — MNA
