As many as 16,000 acres of crops and summer paddy are being supplied with irrigated water from Kintar Dam in Wundwin Township, Meiktala District, Mandalay Region, according to Assistant Engineer U Khin Maung Winn from the Irrigation Department.
The reservoir began to release the irrigated water from 20 February and it will continue to do so up to 25 June for 5,000 acres of summer paddy, 5,000 acres of sesame, 2,500 acres of mung bean, 4,000 acres of chili and 400 acres of cotton. The dam has been supplying water to paddy and other crops in 67 villages of the township. –Thein Myint Kyaw
