At least 17 people were injured after a passenger bus plunged into a ravine in Padaung Township, Bago Region, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.
A passenger bus named, “Yoma Yazar” with 17 people aboard plummeted into a 200 ft. deep gorge between mileposts 31/5 and 31/6 on the Pyay-Taungup Road near Nyaunggyi Village in Padaung Township at around 11 p.m. on 14 December. The accident is attributed due to faculty braking system of the vehicle. 17 people sustained minor injuries in the incident and among the injured people, 8 people—two men and six women—were severely injured.
The injured people have been transferred to a nearby hospital and a file is opened against the diver of the passenger bus identified as Thein Zaw Oo, 42 years old over reckless driving by the local police.—MOHA
