With the help of the public, Forest Department under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is implementing various methods including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS) to detect and seize illegal timbers and forest products in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, states and regions in the country.

 

According to the statistics sent by Nay Pyi Taw, State and Regional Forest Departments, a total of 178.71 tons of illegal timbers including 123.02 tons of teak, 18.19 tons of hardwood, 37.50 tons of others timbers, 12 vehicles and 17 culprits were confiscated and arrested from July 10 to 16 in this year in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, states and regions, according to Forest Department.—(MNA)
