THE 17th Floral Fantasia 2024, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the National Kandawgyi Garden, was inaugurated on 14 December 2024 in the National Kandawgyi Garden, the landmark of PyinOoLwin, Mandalay Region.
During the flower festival days, the site is crowded with large numbers of visitors, and the festival period is extended to 19 January 2025 for the local and foreign visitors to enjoy the festival and peaceful situation of PyinOoLwin.
PyinOoLwin is famous among Myanmar tourist destinations as it offers fine weather, picturesque natural mountains and landscapes, local foods, the hospitality of locals and various kinds of flowers. Moreover, the Cherry that blooms once a year can be seen in the whole town in the cold season and is also called Cherry City. The cherry blossoms start December-January, and the flowers are still in the tree until February and March. This year, the cherry blossoms are delayed, according to the locals. During the flower festival period, PyinOoLwin in addition to the National Kandawgyi Garden and famous pagodas sees large crowds of local and foreign visitors this year.
The 17th Flower Festival features eight zones displaying local and foreign flower species and resident flora, over 200,000 flowers of 20-25 types of seasonal flower species, 15-20 types of resident flower species, entertainment programmes, fairs and local product shops.
