Kungyangon, September 7
18 out of 19 fishermen were rescued from a sunken fishing boat in the Yangon River near Thaungkhon Village, Kungyangon Township in Yangon Region, according the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Members of the marine police rushed to the scene where the fishing boat sank at about 1:30 p.m. on September 2 and rescued 18 fishermen on the boat. Unfortunately, a marine worker identified as Wailu Lyaw, 25, from Myaungmya Township went missing in the incident.
A search operation for the missing fisherman is ongoing by the police and local officials.
