A total of 18 Myanmar nationals who were trafficked to Thailand were repatriated through the cooperation between the Rehabilitation Department under the Ministry for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Myanmar and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in Thailand at the temporary shelters in Myawaddy this morning.
The occasion was jointly conducted by officials from the General Administration Department, Anti-Human Trafficking Police Force, Department of National Registration and Citizenship, Department of Immigration, Department of Labour, Rehabilitation Department, members of Women’s Affairs Association and members of International Organization for Migration- IOM (Myanmar).
In addition, a total of 41,110 baht of wages of 13 people out of 18 who were trafficked were provided by Thai Government. The returnees will stay at the temporary shelters for three days. During three days, they will be provided basic needs before being repatriated to their homes.
In addition, arrangements are being made to furnish additional rehabilitation aids after being repatriated to their homes by the Rehabilitation Department, IOM (Myanmar), UNICEF, World Vision (Myanmar) and Save the Children.
