THE first session of the 19th plena­ry meeting of the Eighth 47-mem­ber State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee was administrated at the Wizaya Mingala Dhamma Thabin on Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon yesterday.

 

Present on the occasion were members of the State Sang­ha Maha Nayaka Committee led by Presiding Nayaka Sayadaw of Thanlyin Min Kyaung Pahtama­pyan Buddhism Learning Ag­gamaha Pandita Aggamaha Saddhamajotikadhaja Dr Bhadd­anta Candima Bhivamsa, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin and rele­vant officials.

 

Before the meeting, the Un­ion ministers donated offertories to Sayadaws.

 

State Sangha Maha Nay­aka Committee Chairman Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa presided over the event, and Joint Secretary Sayadaw Aggamaha Gantavasaka Pandita Aggamaha Saddhamajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Panyar Dhaja acted as the mas­ter of ceremonies.

 

The State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman recited Saraniya Ovada, and Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin reported on religious affairs-re­lated matters.

 

Then, Sayadaws reported on Vinicchaya, religious affairs and educational matters. The Sayadaws discussed religious and Vinicchaya affairs and con­cluded the first session.

 

The Vinicchaya affairs and religious-related matters were discussed by Sayadaws in the second session at 1 pm.

 

Senior General Than Shwe (Rtd) and his wife Daw Kyaing Kyaing and other donors offered breakfast alms meals and day alms meals to the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee mem­ber Sayadaws, who attended the ceremony yesterday. — MNA/ KTZH
