Police in Northern Ireland have arrested two teenagers in connection with the fatal shooting of a journalist during rioting in the city of Londonderry.
The men, aged 18 and 19, were detained on Saturday on suspicion of killing Lyra McKee. The 29-year-old was shot dead on Thursday as she was reporting on a riot. Police had been met with gunfire and gasoline bombs when they entered the area on a tip. They suspect the two men are linked to a group that split from the Irish Republican Army, or IRA.
The journalist's death comes amid rising concerns that sectarian violence in Northern Ireland may reignite as Brexit negotiations become increasingly divisive. Over 3,000 people were killed during decades of violence in Northern Ireland over whether the region should remain part of the United Kingdom or reunite with the Republic of Ireland.
